These are the forest trails of Lighthouse Country here around Qualicum Bay. There is a starkness of the trunks against the brightness of a sunrise or sunset, and a stillness in the air. To walk into the cool shade of the trails is a special treat on hot, sunny days.​

I love walking along the Big Qualicum River. It's especially interesting in the fall. The salmon are running, there's a lot of activity, and you never know who's keeping an eye on you from across the river...
