Waltzing off to Vienna

Writer's picture: Sheena McCorquodaleSheena McCorquodale

In July of this year, I was asked to design and produce 6 dancing figures (3 couples) in Edwardian attire for inclusion in an illuminated trail and lighting show at Schloss Laxenberg in Vienna.

I sent them a proposal showing costume styles and dance inspirations

They accepted my terms and proposals. I got to work with a very tight timeline.

Once they were completed, I loaded them onto what must have looked like a traveling dance floor and headed down the highway to Sunny Beach in Qualicum Bay to catch the early morning light.

Good friends arrived to help and then joined in the dance.

Back home, things were looking decidedly crowded in the Cathouse garden

So into the shipping boxes and off they went. First stop, Northumberland, England

Three weeks of delays, nailbiting, and looming deadlines went by and finally, I got word that they had arrived intact. They received a UV coating and then they were off to dance in Vienna.
